The Korean National Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwacheon, south of Seoul, will open a new space in the South Korean capital in 2013. The expansion marks the first step of a larger project of cultural development.
The future museum will have a budget of over $ 3 million to acquire works of modern and contemporary art with an emphasis on photography and video. According to its designers, the public will be at the heart of the project. The museum will offer a varied program including outdoor events with the aim of involving both Seoul residents and foreign tourists and to highlight the presence of art in everyday life.
