Asia Society Museum of New York was perhaps one of the most powerful influences in exposing the U.S. to Asian contemporary art. Furthering this passion, a week-long initiative will commence in September, concluding with an auction at Sotheby’s.
,” an exhibition organized by Fortune Cookie Projects aims to shine a light on contemporary Asian artists for a charity auction.
Displaying the breath and diversity of Asian contemporary artists from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand are being represented.
The event is sponsored by Departures
magazine through its new Global Arts Initiative, created to strengthen the global exchange of ideas through art. The artists will be featured in the October issue “Destination
” of Departures
devoted solely to Asia.
The Asian contemporary program will commence September 7th with a series of events to coincide with “Asia Week.” The auction of 20 works by 13 contemporary artists will be held September 13th at Sotheby’s New York. Moreover, the profits from the sale will benefit the Asia Society Museum.
