The budding contemporary art scene in Beirut drew attention on July 15th, for the ninth public sale at Ayyam Auctions which raked in almost $750,000 in sales.
A range of paintings, prints, sculptures and photography in nearly 60 lots of emerging and stars of contemporary Arab art were offered.
Highlights included works by artists such as Samia Halaby, Nadim Karam and Nassouh Zaghouleh as well as Paul Guiragossian, Moustafa Fathi and Chafic Abboud.
Far surpassing its estimate, Safwan Dahoulís piece, as part of an ongoing sequence entitled "Dream
", snatched up $96,000.
