South Korea: Hotel rooms turned into art galleries

Hotels have always decorated their lobbies with works of art yet only recently have they begun to use their space as an innovative contemporary art galleries.

The Ritz-Carlton Seoul hosts the 2011 Seoul Art Festival from July 22 to 24, under the theme Encounter Between the Corporate and the Arts.

Seventy-two guestrooms will be transformed into gallery spaces for 3,000 works of art. Moreover, lectures and discussion by curators and auctions of art pieces will be held in the suites.

The integration of contemporary art into public infrastructure is ever more apparent with this innovative use and collaboration between the Ritz-Carlton and grand exhibition.
